Your IP Address, Host Address and Referer
An IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a unique number that is assigned to your computer whenever you connect to the Internet or other network. This address is similar to a telephone number and allows devices on a network to pass requested information back to the correct location. Many Internet Service Providers (ISP) issue a different IP address each time a person joins the network. This is called a Dynamic IP Address. A Static Address remains the same each time a person connects. This is generally used for servers where the address must remain the same for others to be able to find it. Your host is your Internet Service Provider or ISP. They are the company that connects you to the Internet. By doing a search for the last part of this address you can usually find the name of the company who owns that address. |
